How to Submit
Rules and submission information for the 2015/16 Short Fiction Contest are below. PLEASE READ THE RULES CAREFULLY!! A link to the story submission section is at the bottom of the page!
RULES
Note: Entries which do not fulfill all of the following requirements will be returned without judging and will not be eligible for re-submission.
1. In addition to an electronic copy submitted through the website, ONE (1) hard copy of each entry must be submitted with an entry form attached. The online and hard copy versions of the entry must be identical.

2. Entries must be typewritten, double-spaced, on one side of plain 8 1/2" x 11" paper. [N.B. In the interests of the environment, students wishing to double-side their hard copies may do so.] Please use standard 12- point font with upper and lower case letters. The exact word count must appear at the end of the entry. Stories of fewer than 1000 and more than 2500 words are ineligible. Original typescripts and photocopies must be entirely legible. MAKE SURE THE STUDENT'S NAME AND SCHOOL DO NOT APPEAR ON THE STORIES (HARD OR ELECTRONIC COPIES)
3. Typescripts must be publication-ready (i.e. fully and carefully edited, ready for printing, with correct paragraphing, punctuation, dialogue formatting, and spelling).
4. Stories must be titled, with the title appearing on the first page. DO NOT USE A TITLE PAGE. Pages must be numbered consecutively, starting with page 2. Make sure no by-line is included.
5. An entry form must be completed and attached to the hard entry.
6. The entrant's name or school must NOT appear anywhere on the contest typescript of the hard copies, only on the entry form.
7. Only Toronto District School Board students, Grades 9-12 are eligible. However, stories written by students in second semester (Feb.-June 2016) may be submitted to this year’s contest, even if they have since graduated.
8. Only one entry will be accepted from each student. It must be an original, previously unpublished story.
9. Hard entries may be sent by Canada Post or Board Mail, or they may be delivered by hand to Renata Catenacci at Victoria Park CI. Entries may NOT be faxed.
