2012-2013 Author's Day
Due to the unusual nature of the 2012-2013 school year, the results of the contest were not completed until July. For this school year only, committee members planned on holding two author's days. Unfortunately, the one planned for late September had to be cancelled due to insufficient participation. Invitees from the 2012-2013 contest will have the opportunity to attend our regular format Author's Day which will return in May.
A Celebration of Writing!
On Friday May 4th, the 2012 TCTE Short Fiction Contest officially came to close. As has been done in the previous few years, all writers who were fortunate enough to make it to the second round of the competition were officially invited to "Author's Day", where they were given the opportunity to workshop their stories with professional Canadian Writers. We at the TCTE would officially like the thank the authors for spending the day with us, and encouraging our young writers to continue developing their craft. Please see the section titled "2012 Guest Authors" for more information about their work.
In addition to the guest authors, we would also like to extend a big thank you to Penguin books and their publicist Vimala Jeevanandam for donating 19 books to the contest.
Last but not least, we'd like to thank all staff at the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library at the University of Toronto for allowing our students to visit, and spend time viewing the incredible collection of rare materials. For anyone that is interested in the library, more information can be found at the following web address: http://fisher.library.utoronto.ca/about-the-library.
